Did you know that there are a variety of Pilates exercises that go beyond the mat?

Pilates is an innovative form of mind-body exercise and body conditioning, developed from the rehabilitation exercises of Joseph Pilates (1882-1967). This method of condition includes hundreds of exercises for the mat, as well as various pieces of equipment. While mostly known for its emphasis on core work, the exercises in the Pilates repertoire also focus on strengthening & elongating muscles, flexibility, mobility, and facilitating optimal movement.

The entire body is trained, rather than isolating different muscle groups.

Many find Pilates as a great way to stay in top shape and achieve good health, where people often report improvements in posture and a decrease in their aches and pains.

Despite the misconception that Pilates is primarily for women, Pilates is for every body - regardless of gender, age, race, size, ability, or current fitness level. Athletes, fitness buffs, dancers, and physical therapy patients alike have turned to Pilates for more than 50 years. With hundreds of exercises and variations in the repertoire, Pilates can be enjoyed by everyone, whether you have a sedentary lifestyle, are pregnant, have anxiety or stress, or are undergoing rehab. It is a comprehensive system that can be both gentle and intense, benefitting people of all ages and abilities.

Pre/Postnatal Pilates

Pre and Postnatal Pilates sessions can help support your unique needs, address postural changes during and after birth, keep you strong and active during and after your pregnancy, and leave you feeling stronger, taller and supported.

During these private sessions, your body will be working gently and safely through guided and efficient exercises that can relieve discomfort as your body changes, as well as create a sense of alignment, balance and centredness for your body throughout your pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

Pilates can help address common concerns such as diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction, etc. in a safe and effective way.

Why Choose Private Pilates Training?

Pilates can help address common concerns - whether they are pelvic health conditions, injuries, rehabilitation, strength, or mobility.

Private Pilates training is right for you if:

  • You want a personalized plan that suits the unique needs of your body

  • You are recovering from an injury and want to be guided through safe & effective exercises

  • You want to work with someone who can give you accountability

  • You want someone who can guide you through alignment and positioning of exercises

  • You prefer a holistic, mind-body approach towards your goals

How it works?

We begin with an Initial Assessment, a session designed to assess your current movement patterns and areas of concern, and to fully understand your goals. You’ll also be introduced to the principles of Pilates and learn some of the foundation exercises.

After the Initial Assessment, most clients continue to attend a regular weekly schedule to feel the very best results (one or twice a week). Our sessions will continue to build upon one another and the exercises are always customized to meet your needs and will challenge you in a supported and gentle way.
